Designed for the professional pilot, this course provides the practical flying skills, theory, and operational experience required to operate confidently in the industry.
This combined program offers a pathway from foundational flight training through to advanced commercial and MEIR operations, preparing students for a successful career in the aviation industry.

Pre-requisites
Flight Experience
None! We do recommend a trial introductory flight to make sure this course is for you; however, our program is designed for those who have abolsutely no flight experience.
Age
Candidates must be at the age of 18 at the time of enrolment. Exceptions can be made for those who are 17 years of age and are turning 18 within 6 months of commencement.
It is a CASA requirement to be at least 18 years of age to hold a Commercial Pilot Licence.
Education
Completion of Year 12 or higher level education. All candidates must complete an approved Language, Literacy and Numeracy test (provided by us) and satisfy the minimum academic requirements.
Medical
All candidates must obtain a Class 1 Medical Certificate and maintain it throughout their training.
Aviation Security Identification Card
Candidates must be eligible for a Red ASIC. You can apply for your Red ASIC once you have received a confirmation of enrolment from us.
International Candidates
The Redcliffe Aero Club is not a registered CRICOS education provider; therefore, we cannot accept candidates studying on a student VISA. Please search the CRICOS register to find an appropriate provider.
Tuition Fees
*The Redcliffe Aero Club is an approved VET Student Loan provider and the AVI50222 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane) & AVI50519 Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating) are approved for VET Student Loans for eligible candidates. Candidates are encouraged to research VET Student Loans. A VET Student Loan is a loan from the Commonwealth and is required to be paid back.
Course Structure
Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL)
Students begin with the Recreational Pilot Licence, developing core flying skills, aircraft handling, circuit procedures, navigation fundamentals, and aviation safety knowledge. *Student’s will not obtain a Recreational Pilot Licence during this phase of study.
Aircraft: Cessna 172S
Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
The course then advances to the Private Pilot Licence, where students expand their flight planning, navigation, cross-country, and operational decision-making skills while gaining greater flight experience and independence. On completion of this phase of study, students will be granted a Private Pilot Licence.

Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
Commercial Pilot Licence training focuses on advanced aircraft handling, commercial operations, navigation accuracy, and professional flight standards required for a career as a commercial pilot. During this phase of training, students will complete a Manual Propeller Pitch Control edorsement to gain experience operating aircraft fitted with variable pitch propeller systems. On completion of this phase of study, students will be granted a Commercial Pilot Licence
Aircraft: Cessna 172S, Cessna 182Q/T, Piper Archer PA-28 (Optional), Piper Arrow PA-28R (Optional).
Multi-Engine Aeroplane (MEA)
Students then transition into Multi-Engine Class Rating, learning to operate complex aircraft systems, asymmetric flight procedures, and advanced aircraft performance management.
Aircraft: Cessna 310R
Instrument Rating (IR)
The final stage of training is the Instrument Rating, where students develop the skills required to safely operate under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), including instrument approaches, en-route procedures, and advanced navigation in a range of operational conditions.
